I have myotonic dystrophy, a form of muscular dystrophy. This neurological disease can cause my muscles to contract and not release. Imagine clenching your fist and not being able to open it. At times, the contractions in my legs are so prolonged that I end up with leg pain. My family’s support helps me cope with the pain. They help apply heat or wrap me up tightly. Also, their emotional support is a blessing.
